IGBOGILA STAKEHOLDERS ENDS INTERNAL RIFT, SETTLES FOR PEACE

Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela once posited that “Peace is not just the absence of conflict; peace is the creation of an environment where all can flourish regardless of race, colour, creed, religion, gender, class, caste or any other social markers of difference.” It was on this premise that all the people that matters in Igbogila Yewa gathered on Saturday 5th October 2024 to make peace among the warring parties. The peace and reconciliation meeting was championed by the Igbogila Stakeholders Development Forum and was well attended by the traditional, political and religious leaders of the town with an attempt to put an end to internal wrangling which has been bedeviling the town for years.

The genesis of the rift could be traced to the controversial suspension of some Chiefs, instituting of court case/court order and probe of the traditional council’s financial records. The matter became worse when the race of enthroning the new King of the town began which was necessitated by the passing of the Monarch, Oba Ebenezer Olanloye Osungade who departed to meet his Ancestors on the 2nd March 2024.

Everyone that spoke at the epic event iterated the need for forgiveness, genuine reconciliation and sacrifice most especially, among the warring factions for the progress and development of Igbogila. While addressing people in attendance, the President of convening group, Pastor Olajide Abiodun appealed to the warring factions to sheath their swords and embrace peace. He opined that the PEACE, ONENESS and UNITY of Igbogila Township is not negotiable. All the Elders who spoke at the event also shared similar thought and agreed to work together for the progress of the town. The Peace Talk is adjudged to be successful by every standard and has finally put an end to all the conflicts in the town. It is the right time to set Igbogila town on the path of progress and development.

Among those who attended the meeting were Chief Yinusa Akinlolu Ajibade, Chief Jimoh Ashamu Elegbede, Pa Sogo Olu Agemo, Elder Olusola Adelakun, Alhaji M.I Opebiyi, Pastor Wesley Osanyin and Alhaji Afees Afonka. Also in attendance were Hon. Sunday Kojeku, Chief Samson Oderinde, Hon.
