Ogun West Youths insist on Awoso for Deputy Speakership
The Youths of Ogun West under the auspices of Ogun West Project Forum drums support for the Honourable member representing Yewa North 1 State Constituency, Hon. Adegoke Adeyanju Awoso for the position of Deputy Speaker, Ogun State 10th House of Assembly.
In the press release made available by the Publicity Secretary of the group, Comrade Olusola Ojekunle, he said, "Hon. Awoso is the choice of Ogun West Youths and other major stakeholders because of his track records, vibrancy and commitment to serve humanity. Awoso sincerely demonstrated these traits in the 9th Ogun State House of Assembly and he has showcased selfless service towards humanity and commitment to Prince Dapo Abiodun's agenda, to better the lives of the people in Ogun State".
While encouraging other Lawmakers to support and cast their vote for Awoso, the statement reads "If you, as the Honourable Members of the 10th Ogun State House of Assembly wants efficiency, you cannot sacrifice competency on the altar of compensation or gender. The position of a Deputy Speakership shouldn't be traded as a compensation to anyone rather for merit and competency. Whoever that emerges as a Deputy Speaker must be able to stand as the Speaker even whenever the later is not available.
Setting the record straight, Hon. Adegoke Adeyanju Awoso, who served as the Chairman House Committee on Health had sponsored Two (2) Bills on the floor of the 9th Ogun State House of Assembly on health insurance and Public Health. Likewise he did co-sponsor other three (3) Bills. Awoso is known for his regular attendance at the proceedings of the House as well as his robust and rational contributions to general issues as they affect the good people of Ogun State. It can be recalled that Hon. Awoso during his first term sponsored over 200 of his constituents who are till today, benefiting from the public health insurance scheme he sponsored. Till this moment, no other Legislator came close to his giant stride in this regard. Many are members of his constituency who have carried out eye surgery, pneumonia, hernial and other major health surgeries which would have cost them a fortune.
Reflecting further on the track record of Hon. Adegoke Adeyanju Awoso in the 9th Assembly, the group opined that Awoso has been the voice of the masses and image maker of the Ogun State House of Assembly. One of the state roads in Yewa North (Imasayi-Ayetoro road) embarked upon by the Dapo Abiodun's led administration was born out of Awoso's agitation on the floor of the 9th Assembly Chamber. In addition, through his appearance in many media outlets, he had successfully iterated the members of the public on the activities of the 9th Assembly as well as the Prince (Dr.) Dapo Abiodun led administration.
Hon. Awoso's contribution and representation didn't only benefit his constituency but Ogun West and the entire state in general. He was at the forefront on the issue of the abandoned Ipokia Polytechnic at the Chamber which necessitated Governor's visit to the abandoned site of that project. He was as well instrumental to closing down an unauthorized gas plant which was posing danger to the Students and Teachers of Anglican Grammar School in Ilaro.
While we are proud of Hon. Adegoke Adeyanju Awoso's Competency and Achievements, we therefore openly canvas for support from all elected Honourable Members of the Ogun State 10th House of Assembly for Hon. Awoso. His track records have positioned him to be the right candidate for the job of Deputy Speaker, Ogun State House of Assembly.
