Tinubu's Election Victory, Gain of June 12 Struggle - Salako

The victory of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in the 2023 general elections has been partly ascribed to the role he played in the struggle for the actualization of June 12 election victory of Chief Moshood Kashimawo Abiola in 2003.

Making this assertion was Dr Iziaq Kunle Salako, an APC political stalwart and former Commissioner in Ogun Statet at a  commemorative lecture titled, June 12, 1993, Identity Politics and the National Question: 30 years after, organized by the Iba Gani Adams, the Aare Onakankanfo of Yorubaland led Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC) held at Excellent Hotel, Ogba, Lagos.

Describing June 12, 1993 election as one that transcended ethnic, racial, religious, social class and age identities, Salako who is also the Director General of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola Yayi Campaign Organization asserted that Nigerians do not forget heroic deeds, time will not make them to forget the heroes and heroines of June 12 2023 and the event itself.

He congratulated Aare Onakankanfo of Yorubaland, Iba Gani Adam and the OPC for the consistency with which they have  kept the memory of June 12 alive over the years.

The commemorative lecture which was delivered by Dr. Oseni Taiwo Afisi, a Professor of Philosophy at the Lagos State University had in attendance prominent pro democracy activists like Chief Dare Babarinsa, Dr. Tunji Abayomi, Dr. Joe Okei Odumakin, Otunba Gbenga Onayiga and Mr. Bola Bolawole.
