Dr. Kunle Salako Makes Tinubu's Ministerial Nominees List (Kehinde Akinlade)

 


The name of Dr. isiaq Kunle Salako, Director General of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola Yayi Campaign Organization YAYICO  from Ogun West Senatorial District of Ogun State has made the list of nominees for the  the position of Minister in the Tinubu led  government of  the Federal Republic of Nigeria.


The name of Dr. Salako a medical expert, an astute grassroots politician and a former Commissioner in Ogun State appeared in the second batch list of nominees for ministers submitted to the Senate ministerial screening committee.  



The news of his nomination coming over four decades after Ebun Oyagbola of the Senatorial District was appointed a Minister by the civilian administration of Late  Shehu Shagari and three decades after Senator Iyabo Anisulowo was appojnted Minister of State by the military administration of Late General Sanni Abacha meets the yearning of the good people of Ogun West and has thrown the district into a frenzy.


He is a Public Health Physician, health activist, politician, public analyst, community mobilizer, writer and a notable on air personality. He holds an MBBS degree from the University of Lagos and a Master in Public Health from the Lagos State University. 


Dr. Salako, a certified colposcopist and sonologist grew his career in the medical profession working in Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Onicha General Hospital, Ebonyi State, St’ Raphel Hospital, Lagos, Mucas Hospital, Lagos and the Lagos State Health Service Commission where he rose to the position of Senior Medical Officer before exiting the organization to pursue other visions.


In 2007 Salako was appointed a Commissioner in Ogun State and served the state in three strategic ministries of Agriculture, Housing and Health where he introduced innovations that promoted public health and the general welfare of the people of Ogun State.


The innovations which he introduced as Commissioner in Ogun State attracted to him recognitions from reputable organizations like The Nigerian Tribune Newspaper, Lions International (District 404), Nigeria Veterinary Medical Association, Property and Environmental Writers Association of Nigeria, Lagos Housing Fair, Nigeria Union of Journalist, National Association of Resident Doctors (LUTH Branch) and the Yewa Traditional Council.


In 2020, he was appointed as the Chairman, Ogun State Hospitals Management Board and was adjudged the best government parastatal Chairman in the State in 2021 by Gateway News Magazine. 


Dr. Salako was a student leader during his days on campuses and served in several capacities which includes the President, Association of Medical Students University of Lagos, Vice President, Federation of Africa Medical Students Association and Parliamentarian/Caucus leader, University of Lagos Student Union. 


He is a member, Association of General and Private Medical Practitioners of Nigeria, Association of Public Health Physicians of Nigeria and the Nigeria Medical Association. He served as the Publicity Secretary of the Lagos State branch of the NMA in 1993/1994. 


While serving the nation as an corp member in Nigeria Youths Service Corp programme in 1994/1995, he emerged as one of the top 10 youth corps members in Old Abia State and was also awarded the Golden Handshake Award of former  President Jimmy Carter of the United State for his efforts at eradicating Guinea Worm in Onicha local government area of old Abia State now Ebonyi State.


Wired as a growth and development activist, Dr. Kunle Salako is involved in many voluntary activities and currently sits  as a member of the Advisory Board of Quality Management Development Institute, Lagos, Member Afisu Olabimtan Foundation, Ilaro, Ogun West, Secretary, Board of Trustees HOW Foundation, Abeokuta and Secretary, Board of Trustees of Ayetoro Central Initiative for Development.
